Fargo’s Take Unranked to start the season, Alabama came out of the gate with nine straight wins and that was based on an easy nine-game opening streak. However, a back-breaking three- turnovers allowed the Tide to pull out of some close games and allow seven drives of 65 yards or more. Once that happened, the Tide won six of eight games with the defense allowing just 6.8 ppg.intoned to go 100 yards. Alabama’s offense was not to be denied and with such a strong defense, keeping the potent Arkansas Razorbacks in check was the goal. But with such an undefeated season, what was the game plan? Simply put, continue to take control of the ball and control the clock. Alabama did that and now it’s looking forward a year and a half longer to the SEC Championship

Alabama Crimson Returning Starters on Offense – 5 Coach Mike

Shula is entering his fourth season as the Alabama head coach and each season he has led the Tide to a strong start. In his first year, Shula’s offenses averaged 26.1 ppg and 15.6 ppg in 2000 and increased those numbers by an amazing 34.7 ppg in his second year and 24.9 ppg last season. Combined, those gangs totaled 59.7 ppg which is higher than what most anticipate this season which is a tremendous accomplishment. The Favres (Tonylegal) averaged 15.6 ppg in his final two seasons in Tuscaloosa and that is a good sign as he should fit into the same pattern

Returning Starters on Defense

This is the most talented side of the football defense and involves five players with at least some college football experience. The linebackers and defensive backs are deep and experienced but getting them all together will be a challenge. As good as the pass rush was, the secondary continued to show it can hold teams to 27 or less points
