Fargo’s Take Unranked to start the season, Alabama came out of the gate with nine straight wins and it looked at though something special might unfold. However, a heartbreaking three-point loss to LSU in overtime dashed not only national title hopes but also a possible SEC Championship. The following week, the Tide couldn’t recover and fell to under expectations against Vanderbilt. Alabama did go into LSU two weeks ago and nearly pulled off the trifecta, but a BCS Bowl loss to Georgia means the Tide has won’t get the chance to end a seven-year drought against the Tigers

Alabama Crimson Nevertheless what stands out about the Tide

is that Coach Mike Shula is still on the hot seat should the team not make it over the hump in the SEC. He has an excellent defense which is again the backbone of his team and the specialty teams are beyond impressive. Linebacker Buster Davis and safety Reggie Nelson are as studs as any in the secondary, while on the offense quarterback drops back and the passing game features more of the tall, athletic lineman that scouts are betting on. This is still a very talented team that will be hard to beat in the SEC and a couple more upsets need to occur for the Tide to get back in the rankings

Returning Starters on Offense 5

Coach Mike Shula is entering his fourth season as head coach and after offering up varied looks last year, expect more of the same. He likes a balanced attack and he has a playmakers backfield that can also feature as much as former number one optionTre Mason. Ranked in the top 10 against the pass, the Bulldogs will be strong everywhere and architectural advantage is expected. violent rate of pass receptions could cause issues against smaller defensive backs
